Last summer I set up my own marketing and design consultancy called HLB Creative Solutions. With an exceedingly lean budget to market my new company, I needed a cost effective route to start getting myself and my company recognised locally, so I could win some business.
I had heard from various friends, that Milton Keynes was a mecca to networking events and was interested to find out how they could help with raising awareness of my company and generate business. So after a search around the web, I found a list of various groups.
After visiting a few groups I could see the benefits I would gain from regularly attending a group and how they would be beneficial for growing my business, but finding one that suited was not as easy as I thought.
Some started too early, some were too strict, some were too pressured, some didn't seem too focussed on business.
Then I went to the Milton Keynes TLGC. A fairly new club with fresh ideas and a relaxed yet pro-active and positive attitude. No need for 100% attendance, great for a mum with unpredictable circumstances of tummy bugs with a 2 year old son. Also available from the group are master classes on business improvement subjects, just another added bonus for a new business owner to learn from more experienced professionals.
Now, 6 months on I have more confidence and a fantastic group of colleagues who offer me advice and support whenever I need it. All of which is great if you need legal expertise from a solicitor or financial guidance from an IFA and at no extra charge! Oh and the best part, I get regular work referred to me as a result of the business relationships I've now formed.
All these leads, support and advice for my business, just with a friendly chat over breakfast!
